Valerie:

hello and welcome to the Mindful Life Changes Podcast, where we dive deep into the challenges and transformations shaping our lives from shifts in our roles at home and work to the transitions we navigate physically and mentally as we gracefully age. I'm your host Valerie Mekki a career change guide and mindfulness enthusiast. I firmly believe that self-care doesn't need to be a grand gesture. Sometimes just five to 10 minutes is all it takes to rejuvenate and replenish your energy. Life can feel so demanding and your time may be limited, but that's perfectly okay. Even a brief moment of self-care can make a big difference. Be proud of yourself for showing up. It's a beautiful thing when you choose you. Right now, you've decided to take a moment for yourself to nurture your wellbeing and give yourself the love and attention you deserve. In return, this small act of self-care will help you recharge and show up even stronger for the rest of the day, and for those around you, let's dive right into today's self-care mantra session by starting with a brief body scan to relax your mind and body. You can sit comfortably in a chair with back support, rest on a cushion, or lie down, whatever feels best for you. If it's comfortable, gently close your eyes or soften your gaze forward or slightly upward. We'll begin with taking a slow inhale through your nose for count of 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale all the hair through the mouth for a count of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Let's do that one more time. Inhale deeply through her nose for 1, 2, 3, 4. Exhale fully through her mouth for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If you notice any sensations in your body or thoughts creeping into your mind, simply acknowledge them without judgment and let them pass. Bring your attention back to your breath. I'll begin reciting today's self-care mantra twice. Simply listen and let the words gently sink in, know where to be. No one to take care of. This moment is just for me, nowhere to be. No one to take care of. This moment is just for me. Next, I will repeat the mantra twice. Each time I recite it, I invite you to repeat it out loud to yourself, but let the sound of your own voice reinforce this dedication to yourself. Nowhere to be, no one to take care of. This moment is just for me, nowhere to be. No one to take care of. This moment is just for me. Let's create a deeper connection between your body and mind. I will repeat the mantra twice as I recite each word. I want you to gently touch your thumb to your index finger for the first word, then your thumb to your middle finger for the next, your thumb to your ring finger for the following word. And finally, your thumb to your pinky finger. This simple gesture not only grounds you in the moment, but also helps reinforce the mantras message through a calming physical rhythm. So let's begin. Know where to be. Know one to take care of. This moment is just for me. Nowhere to be, no one to take care of. This moment is just for me. Now let's move into visualization. As I recite the mantra twice, I invite you to picture your puppy, place a serene location, a cherished moment with loved ones, or the comforting presence of your pet. Choose anything that fills your heart with joy and peace. Envision it vividly in full color. And allow the scene to come to life in your mind, bringing the sense of calm and contentment to this moment. Nowhere to be. No one to take care of. This moment is just for me, nowhere to be. No one to take care of. This moment is just for me. When you're ready, slowly open your eyes if you had them closed. And if it feels comfortable to you, place your hand over your heart to help seal this mindfulness practice with self love and care. This affirmation is yours to recite and practice for at least 21 days once a day. It's most effective upon waking up in the morning before you start your day or at night, before you go to bed to deepen your affirmation practice. Consider making your affirmations sticky. This is an acronym that helps you craft a more sustainable and effective affirmation practice. Check out episode one for more details on this method.
